Leads Permissions

The Leads category controls who can access lead records and what sections within a lead are visible or editable. Many of these permissions mirror their counterparts in the Customers category, since leads and customers share much of the same data structure. A lead converts to a customer, so permissions granted here govern the pre-sale lifecycle.

Core

Permission Access Levels What It Controls
Leads View, Create, Modify, Delete Base permission for accessing lead records. Without View, no other lead permission has effect.
Administrator Yes Allows the user to assign leads to other users. Required for lead assignment delegation workflows.
View If Assigned Sales Appointment Yes Grants View access to a lead if the user has a sales appointment scheduled for that lead, even without broader Leads View permission.
View Lead Source Information Yes Controls whether the user can view and manage source information on lead records.

Birthday Yes View the birthday field on lead records.
Credit Card Details Yes View credit card information on lead records.

Restrictions

Permission Access Levels What It Controls
Only View If Lead Rep is Hierarchy Descendant Yes When enabled, the user can only view leads where the assigned lead representative is a descendant in the organizational hierarchy. The All-Access group is exempt from this restriction.

Tips

  • The Leads base permission is a prerequisite. Without View on Leads, no other lead permission takes effect.
  • Administrator is specifically about lead assignment delegation -- it does not grant broader administrative access.
  • Confidential field permissions hide the stored value after initial entry. A user who enters the data can see it during entry but not on subsequent views unless they hold the corresponding permission.
  • The Only View If Lead Rep is Hierarchy Descendant restriction narrows visibility based on your company's organizational hierarchy. The All-Access group bypasses this restriction.
  • Many lead permissions mirror customer permissions. When a lead converts to a customer, the customer-category permissions take over.
