Importing customers and users

Once the integration is connected, SecurityTrax can bulk-import your existing Alarm.com customers and Alarm.com logins (users) into SecurityTrax. Both tools are step-by-step wizards: you narrow down what to import, choose how the new records are created, and start the import.

Requires. Monitoring Companies - Full Control.

Heads up. The import tools only appear after the integration is Enabled and successfully connected to Alarm.com. If you don't see them, finish entering and saving valid credentials first (complete 2FA if prompted).

Find them on the Alarm.com provider page under the Alarm.com Import Tools heading, with two buttons: Import Customers and Import Users.

Note. Imports run in the background. After you start one, you can safely close the confirmation window (Close, the , or clicking away) — the import keeps running and the imported records appear in SecurityTrax within a few minutes.

Import customers

Click Import Customers to open the wizard.

  1. Getting Started — a short description of what the tool does. Click Next.
  2. Filter Options — narrow which Alarm.com customers are pulled in. Leave everything blank to import them all.
  3. Import Options — choose how the imported customers are created in SecurityTrax.
  4. Summary — confirmation that the import has started.

Filter Options

The Filter Options step narrows which Alarm.com customers get pulled in. The filters are criteria, not a live search — you enter the values you want to match, and only customers matching all of the filters you set are imported. Leave a filter blank to ignore it; leave every filter blank to import all customers.

Field Required? Type Validation Notes
Customer IDs No Text Comma-separated numbers The Alarm.com customer IDs to import. Type the IDs you want (e.g. 1024, 1025, 1030). Leave blank to import all customers.
Joined On or After No Date Import only customers who joined Alarm.com on or after this date. Leave blank for no date limit.
Sub-Dealers No Multi-select Limit the import to specific Alarm.com sub-dealer branches. Options are loaded from your Alarm.com account.

Import Options

Field Required? Type Validation Notes
Office Location Yes Select An active office location The office location assigned to every imported customer.
Customer Tag(s) No Multi-select Tags applied to every imported customer.
Set Default Rep No Checkbox Turn on to assign a sales rep to every imported customer.
Default Rep Conditional Select Only shown when Set Default Rep is on. The rep assigned to every imported customer.
Update existing customers No Checkbox When a customer already exists in SecurityTrax, update and re-link it instead of skipping it. Leave off to skip customers that already exist.

Import users

Click Import Users to open the wizard. It follows the same four steps: Getting Started → Filter Options → Import Options → Summary.

Heads up. Alarm.com managing (parent) dealer accounts cannot import users — Alarm.com does not expose user lists for managing dealers, because the users belong to the individual sub-dealer accounts. The wizard shows a warning and disables the import when this applies. Customer imports are not affected.

Filter Options

As with the customer import, these are matching criteria — only users matching all the filters you set are imported. Leave a filter blank to ignore it; leave every filter blank to import all users.

Field Required? Type Validation Notes
Support IDs No Text Comma-separated numbers The Alarm.com support IDs to import. Leave blank to import all users.
Roles No Multi-select Limit the import to specific Alarm.com roles. Options are loaded from your Alarm.com account.

Why some records don't import

After every import, SecurityTrax emails an import log to the person who started it (and posts an in-app "imported successfully" notification). The log lists how many records were imported, how many duplicates were skipped, and how many errored. If some records didn't come in, check that log first — it usually explains why. Records are intentionally skipped when:

  • They already exist in SecurityTrax. By default, existing customers/users are skipped so the import never creates duplicates. Turn on Update existing customers / Update existing users if you want existing records updated and re-linked to Alarm.com instead.
  • They're demo accounts. Alarm.com demo customers are always skipped.
  • They don't match your filters. Anything excluded by the Filter Options step is skipped.

A small number may also error (for example, missing required data on the Alarm.com side) — those are counted and listed in the emailed log so you can follow up.
