Notifications
Notifications collect recent in-app alerts for your user account. Use them to catch items that need your attention without leaving the page you are working on.
Where to find notifications
The notification bell appears in the top bar. It is near the right side of the header, before your avatar menu.
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Standard bell | You have no unread notifications. |
| Red bell | You have one or more unread notifications. |
Click the bell to open the Notifications panel. The panel slides out right where you are, so you never leave the page you are working on. SecurityTrax also keeps a full Notifications page with your complete history at https://portal.securitytrax.com/acme/home/notifications.
What the panel shows
The Notifications panel lists your notifications newest first. It shows your most recent notifications; if you have more, click Show more at the bottom to load older ones without leaving the page.
Each notification row includes:
| Part | What it means |
|---|---|
| Unread dot | A colored dot means the notification is unread. Read notifications do not show the dot. |
| Category | The notification category, such as System, User, Sales, or Tech. |
| Timestamp | The relative creation time, such as "5 minutes ago." |
| Message | The notification text. Notification messages can include simple inline formatting such as line breaks, bold text, and links. |
| Actions | An eye icon to mark the notification read or unread, and a clear (×) icon to remove it. |
SecurityTrax supports notifications created by both the older v2 platform and the v3 Ember platform. Some older notifications store their formatted message directly in the notification text. Newer notifications may include structured message data, but SecurityTrax displays the message with the same inline formatting behavior so migrated notifications remain readable.
If you do not have any notifications, the panel says "You do not have any notifications."
Tip. Want a paginated view of your whole notification history? Open the full Notifications page at the URL above — it shows 25 per page. The bell panel is the quickest way to scan recent items without losing your place.
Actions
Use the buttons at the top of the panel to manage the whole list:
| Button | What it does | Available when |
|---|---|---|
| Mark all read | Marks every unread notification as read and returns the bell to its standard state. | You have at least one unread notification. |
| Clear all | Opens a confirmation before deleting all of your notifications. | You have at least one notification. |
When you click Clear all, SecurityTrax shows the confirmation message "This will permanently clear all of your notifications." Click Clear all to confirm, or Cancel to keep your notifications.
To act on a single notification, use the icons on its row. The eye icon marks just that notification read or unread. The clear (×) icon removes it after a confirmation that reads "This will permanently remove this notification."
Warning. Clearing notifications is permanent for your user account. It removes the items from your notification list instead of only marking them read.
Staying up to date
SecurityTrax keeps the bell current as you work — each time you open a new page, it rechecks your unread state. If a new notification arrives while you are sitting on a single page, the bell updates in real time and the red dot appears on its own, with no page reload.
Notification preferences
Your notification preferences control which notifications appear for your account and whether SecurityTrax also sends email or SMS copies. Open Settings → Notifications to manage them.
Each notification has one primary delivery surface and two optional copies:
| Surface | What it means |
|---|---|
| Web | The notification appears inside SecurityTrax, including the notification bell and the Notifications page. |
| SecurityTrax also sends an email copy when the notification is created. | |
| SMS | SecurityTrax also sends an SMS copy when the notification is created. |
The small pills next to each notification name show the saved delivery surfaces. They do not change while you are editing. Click Save to apply your changes and refresh the pills.
Preference controls
Notifications are grouped by category. Each card shows the notification name, description, saved delivery pills, and controls for your account.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Receive in SecurityTrax | Turns the in-app notification on or off for your account. |
| Reset to default | Removes your personal override for that notification and returns it to the company default. This link appears only after you change a notification away from its default. |
| Email Copy | Sends an email copy in addition to the in-app notification. The checkbox is available only when the notification supports email and Receive in SecurityTrax is on. |
| SMS Copy | Sends an SMS copy in addition to the in-app notification. The checkbox is available only when the notification supports SMS, your SMS setup is valid, and Receive in SecurityTrax is on. |
Use Reset all to default to remove all pending personal notification overrides on the page. Click Save to store the reset.
Company defaults
Your company can set default notification behavior. A default can turn a notification on, leave it off until you opt in, or make it unavailable for users.
If a notification is unavailable, you cannot turn it on from your profile. Ask an administrator to review the company notification defaults if you think a notification should be available.
Save behavior
Changes are pending until you click Save.
| Action | Saved result |
|---|---|
| Turn on Receive in SecurityTrax | The notification is saved as on for your account. |
| Turn off Receive in SecurityTrax | The notification is saved as off for your account. |
| Click Reset to default | Your personal row for that notification is removed, so company defaults apply again. |
| Change Email Copy or SMS Copy | SecurityTrax saves the notification as on for your account, with the selected copy settings. |
After a successful save, SecurityTrax shows "Notification preferences saved." and refreshes the saved delivery pills.
If you are not receiving email or SMS notifications you expect, first check Settings → Notifications. Then confirm your Profile has the right email address, cell phone, and mobile carrier. For email reminders, also check your Preferences settings. If those are correct, ask your administrator to review your user notification settings.
