Packages

Requires. Equipment with View to see packages. Creating packages requires Create. Saving or deleting existing packages requires Modify.

Packages are reusable groups of equipment catalog items. Use them when your team repeatedly sells or installs the same group of devices and you want a consistent list of parts, quantities, item charges, and wire types.

Packages are separate from Equipment Templates. Packages define reusable catalog bundles for sales or installs; equipment templates define inventory stocking baselines for replenishment and recipient setup.

Getting here

  • From Admin → Equipment & Inventory, click Packages.
  • Or navigate directly to https://portal.securitytrax.com/acme/admin/packages.

The packages list

The list shows active packages and the equipment lines attached to each package.

Column What it shows
Name The package name. Click it to edit the package.
Description Optional internal description.
Equipment The equipment names and quantities currently included in the package.

Use Filter to search by package name. Click + New Package to create a package when you have Equipment with Create.

Package form

The package form has a package header and one or more equipment line items.

Field Required? Type Validation Notes
Name Yes Text Required. The package label users see.
Description No Textarea None. Internal explanation of when to use the package.
Equipment Yes Select At least one line item must choose equipment. Pulls from active equipment catalog items. Existing inactive selections remain visible while editing.
Quantity Yes Number Minimum 1. How many of the selected item are included.
Item Charge No Text Decimal-style amount. The charge associated with that package line.
Wire Type No Select Must be an active equipment wire type, or blank. Use when the package line needs a default wire type.

Click Add Line Item to add another equipment row. Use the trash icon beside a row to remove it.

Save or delete a package

Click Save to create or update the package. SecurityTrax returns you to the packages list after a successful save.

When editing an existing package, users with Equipment with Modify can click Delete. Deleting a package removes it from the active package list but does not delete equipment catalog items.

Non-obvious behaviors

  • A package must contain equipment. SecurityTrax will not save a package unless at least one line item has an equipment selection.
  • Package equipment is copied from the catalog. Keep the Equipment Catalog current so package pickers show the right items.
  • Inactive equipment can remain on existing packages. If a package already uses an inactive equipment item, that item stays visible while editing so you can remove or replace it deliberately.
